the symbolism is from christianity, but two of the main symbols are from The Legend of Zelda.
The top symbol, which looks like the triforce from zelda, is actually a version of the trinity symbol. The color yellow because yellow light is not pure white, it may also be used to symbolize corruption and degradation. the structure of the symbol represents rigidity, and the yellow suggests an imperfect way. This symbol, over all, is meant to represent the Old Coventant in the Old Testament.
The bird, as often depicted in zelda games, is a pheonix, which is a common symbol for Jesus Christ because it dies and three days later is reborn from the ashes. It is red, which symbolizes the blood of Jesus; warfare; sacrifice; passion; strong emotion; forgiveness; cleansing. This Symbol is meant to represent Jesus Christ, and the sacrifice he made for our sins.
The bottom symbol is another version of the trinity symbol, also known as a celtic knot. The structure of it represent fluidness, ease, perfection. the color green repesents life and is used to represent the triumph of life over death. Over all, then, this portion of the piece represents the New Covenent, given to us by God through Jesus Christ, shown in the New Testament.
White represents purity and righteousness, and black represents evil, darkness, and death. This shows God's kingdom defeating the kingdom of darkness.
So, piecing together all of those symbols, you can see what this piece is saying. It's worth it to know all of this and see it again.
Nice. I don't mean to be rude or anything, but the last symbol reminds me very much of the one we use to represent our provincial flower. I like how you've painted this, it looks great!
What's rude about that? I don't think it's rude. What's a provincial flower? I know the celtic knot has been used for a lot of designs, including flower patterns and much more. And with it just being a design, I'm sure that it has shown up in other cultures as well for other reasons. Originally, it was a symbol used to represent the trinity. The history of Ireland, though, is very interesting. Though most of the liturature and art we have from them is all post-christianity, their original culture survived through their folklore, which attached itself to their christian beliefs. So in the begining of Ireland's christianity, they mixed catholicism and their original folkloreall the time. I wonder if the same is true of the celtic knot? I haven't studied it enough to know.

We've got a provincial flower- it's the trillium. It's what the provincial government uses for their logo, but I think they changed the design recently.
Now that is some awesome symbolism right there. I especially love the meaning behind the Zelda Phoenix design, that one was definitely well thought out. I have actually found alot of Biblical meaning behind mostly everything in Zelda. I won't go into detail right now, I'm really tired, lol. But, sometime I will.
