This was for my room mate this summer (the one in the Worshiping on Guitar series). As evidenced by "The Horse" I built for another friend of mine a couple years ago (see "Hand-Made Art" gallery) I love doing projects for people I love. Why? I don't know. I just can't help myself.

This particular project involved a worn-looking leather journal full of unlined parchment bound together with colored yarn (purchased from Barnes and Nobles.) I basically turned the notebook into a huge letter/book/sermon/interactive work of art. On the left sides of the pages I wrote a sentance or two of the lintricate letter (about compassion and just our friendship) in a beautiful calligraphy script. Writing calligraphy is a form of artwork in itself. On the right sides of the pages were watercolor paintings that complimented or somehow illustrated what was being said on the left side.

I'm not posting the words due to the private nature of them. I'm going to post the cover of the journal with a sample page in my Hand-Made Art folder, but it wont be displayed in my main gallery. I'm going to be posting a series of artwork from this project.
